The Institute was founded on the basis of the Tajik pedagogical Institute of Russian language and literature named after A. S. Pushkin in August 1980, and the faculty of Russian Philology has been functioning since the founding of the University. Being an integral part of the structure of the Institute, the faculty of Russian Philology operates on the basis of the Laws of the Republic of Tajikistan "on education", "on higher and postgraduate professional education" and "Charter of higher professional educational institution of the Republic of Tajikistan".
The main task of the faculty of Russian Philology is to train specialists – teachers and translators in the field of Russian language, linguists in the field of legal activity. The faculty is working according to the planned plan for the "program of improving the study and teaching of Russian and English languages in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2015-2020.»
Currently, the faculty has two departments-comparative linguistics and translation theory, pedagogy, psychology and teaching methods. Educational, research and educational activities of these departments are aimed at improving the quality of training, conducting research activities, as well as bilateral international relations.
Teaching staff of the faculty are the following: 2 doctors of Sciences, 12 candidates of Sciences, more than 20 senior teachers and assistants.
Currently, the faculty has 627 students: 310 students on a budget basis, including 78 students on the Presidential quota, 317 students on a contractual basis. It should be noted that the faculty trains 126 students from neighboring countries – Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan based on international agreements and on a contractual basis.
The faculty trains specialists in 5 directions:
1-020302 – Russian language and literature;
1-020302-03 – Russian language and literature at the national school;
1-210601-02 – Modern foreign languages (Russian translator);
1-010202-05 – Primary education. Russian language;
1-010102-03 – Preschool education. Russian language.
Tasks of the faculty:
training of highly qualified specialists-teachers and translators in the field of Russian language;
conducting research on the study and teaching of the Russian language in the conditions of bilingualism and multilingualism;
holding seminars, round tables and conferences on the study and teaching of the Russian language;
introduction of innovative learning technologies;
training of scientific and pedagogical personnel;
Graduates of the faculty are working in different regions of our republic, continue their education in the master's degree of the Institute and other universities of the Republic and the Russian Federation.
Students – honours of study and active participants of public, scientific and cultural activities of the Institute became the owners of the Lomonosov scholarship: Egamnazar F., M. Rahmatova, I. Irova, Artikulova G.
For the third consecutive year, students of Xinjiang University of the People's Republic of China study for one semester on the basis of a bilateral agreement at the faculty. They intensively study Russian and receive certificates.
The faculty has experienced teachers and highly qualified specialists in the field of Russian Philology. Well-established work with universities in foreign countries, in particular universities in Russia and the People's Republic of China.
Helping students to implement the communicative orientation of training at the faculty there are computer classes equipped with audiovisual means. The Russian language center, opened by the Russian World Foundation, opened its doors wide to all who wish to learn Russian language and Russian culture. Students have the opportunity to use the rich library of the Institute, where most of the books received as a gift from the Russian Federation.
